The Unravelling: What Your Pain Is Really Trying to Tell You About Your Life & Purpose

Have you ever had one of those moments when you look around and think, "Hey, this isn't how I dreamed my life would turn out"?

I've had several of these reality checks throughout my life.

These moments can be so bloody painful and ridiculously hard.

When Everything Falls Apart

You might find yourself crying everyday.

Tears come unexpectedly when even remotely melancholy lyrics and melodies play, and god forbid if anyone asks if you're okay - the floodgates open instantly.

You may wake up feeling heavy and sad, without even knowing why.

The questions circle endlessly:

How will I get through this?

What will life look like in the future?

Will I make the right decisions?

Can I truly be happy on the other side of this pain?

When The Usual Solutions Stop Working

Thankfully, I'm a deep diver and reflect on almost anything and everything (to my detriment sometimes!!!).

Through this introspection, I've come to realise these pivotal moments are incredible opportunities to evolve, change direction, and deepen understanding of ourselves and our life's purpose.

I didn't grow up being spiritual—very much the opposite.

I thought of myself as practical and down-to-earth and saw some of my family members as 'hippy' because they embraced spirituality.

But in my 20's, after a significant breakup that triggered debilitating panic attacks, I discovered the work I was doing in therapy wasn't cutting it.

Traditional approaches—like analysing thoughts on whiteboards or talking through problems intellectually—weren't touching the deeper pain I was experiencing.

Finding Your Way Through Mind, Body, and Spirit

It was through taking a more spiritual outlook to life—seeking meaning and purpose especially during my darkest times—that I began to find my way forward.

I started to recognise that the pain and difficult situation I was in was exactly where I needed to be for my growth.

But spirituality alone wasn't the complete answer.

The missing piece was reconnecting with my body—learning to actually feel emotions rather than intellectualising or avoiding them.

This meant noticing how grief and anxiety sat in my chest or how my emotions got stuck in my throat.

It meant breathing through discomfort instead of running from it.

We're meant to experience all of our emotions.

When we numb difficult feelings, we inadvertently mute our capacity for happiness and fulfillment too.

Realising this was groundbreaking for me.

Moving Beyond Self-Sabotage

My professional training in psychology also showed me how our different internal "parts"—the perfectionist, the people-pleaser, the inner critic—can sabotage our growth if left unnoticed.

The integration of body awareness, spirituality, and psychology creates a powerful framework for becoming your most authentic self.

This approach has allowed me to help clients move beyond limiting patterns and painful experiences toward lives filled with purpose and meaning, truly aligned with their deepest values.

Discovering Purpose Through Pain

When life doesn't turn out how we planned, remember this:

Your deepest pain is often the beginning of a new, more evolved, purpose-led you.

A version of yourself that follows your heart and trusts your intuition without second-guessing.

A you that knows you're here for a reason and does everything in your power to love as deeply as you can, be loved deeply in return, and live your purpose daily.

By turning toward our pain rather than away from it, we discover not just healing, but the very purpose and meaning we've been searching for all along.

Amazing!

But if you're feeling like you want to go a bit deeper with all this (& I totally get it if you're not quite there yet!), here's a couple of ways we could connect:

→ **15-Minute Chat**

- Nothing scary (I promise!), just a real conversation about where you're at right now, what's actually going on beneath the surface, and whether we click.

→ **60-Minute Session**

- For when you're honestly over the whole second-guessing yourself thing and ready to feel what it's like to trust yourself again.

We'll drop into some practical work with your intuition and boundaries, and you'll get a taste of what it feels like when your body and mind are finally on the same page.

I'm here if you're ready, and if you're not, the blog's still got plenty to offer.

And hey, trust whatever you're feeling right now about this.

If it's a "hmm, not yet" then that's perfect.

If it's a "yes please!" that's also perfect.

Your timing is your timing, and I'm a big believer in getting my clients to start to listen to their inner knowing.

**Note: If you're currently experiencing severe emotional distress, please reach out to a mental health professional. While mindfulness and spiritual practices can be powerful complements to therapy, they are not replacements for professional support during crisis.
